About Humble
Humble is a Texas city located in Harris County and
part of the Houston-Sugar Land – Baytown
metropolitan area.
Humble arose thanks to the timber industry that
transformed it into a center for commercial
activity. Petroleum has also been an excellent basis
for Humble’s economic development since its
beginning.
If you were wondering about its name, Humble was
named after Smith “Plez” Humble, one of its original
settlers who opened the first post office here and
later on became a justice of peace.
Humble is known for the oil boom in the early 1900s
when oil was first produced here and led to a even
faster economic development for Humble. This led to
the 1904 railroad linkage, which further contributed
to its development by making the oil export
possible. Truck farming, dairy farming and timber
industry were other branches that made Humble what
it is today, a small, yet prosperous Texas town,
actually considered the commercial, economic and
social center of the county.
Regarding the touristic side of Humble, there are
many reasons to decide to spend your vacation here
